TFPL background

Established in 1987, TFPL has been a pioneer in developing professional recruitment, strategic consultancy, training and research services for the information management and knowledge management market. TFPL was the first company to provide a full training course programme for library and information staff, and as the first commercial recruitment agency specialising in library, records and information personnel, it was responsible for enabling the concept of flexible staffing in library and information centres.

TFPL has continued to innovate - launching the first international directory of CD-ROM products, a unique specialist information management consultancy service, a market analysis service for information providers based on an unparalleled understanding of the information user market, the first executive search service for senior positions in the information sector, and many other specialist services and products.

In 1990 TFPL recognised the need for an international forum to discuss the rapidly changing and increasingly global business information market. ebic was launched in Amsterdam and is now seen to be THE annual meeting place for senior business information managers and information providers.

Since 1995, TFPL has been actively involved in knowledge management, initially researching knowledge management developments in both the public and private sectors, then developing and providing knowledge management recruitment, consultancy, training and research services to those markets. In 1998, TFPL launched the first Chief Knowledge Officers (CKO) Summit meeting. This has now become an established annual event for senior knowledge management professionals, much sought after, and highly valued.

In response to Government led knowledge management initiatives in the Public Sector, in April 2002 TFPL launched the first CKO summit meeting for the Public Sector held at the Bath Priory.  In drawing up the invitation list for the Summit we identified senior knowledge leaders from a wide cross section of the public sector including Government Departments, Agencies, Local Government, and the Police. This meeting was continued in 2003 and is now an annual event, and is being followed up with a series of seminars and networking events through a knowledge and information management forum created for both the public and private sectors by TFPL called TFPL Connect.

In May 2004, TFPL became part of IDOX group, which strengthens TFPL's position in the knowledge and information market, and enable it continue to expand its business.
