TFPL Connect events

TFPL Connect 2010 events will follow the same format as 2009 events:

  1. All Connect events are free to members.
  2. Our Connect events are scheduled between 6pm and 9pm with the formal part of the programme from 6pm to 7.30pm, followed by networking and nibbles.

We will host four Connect events in 2010. The next event for 2010 will be held on 29 September.

Alongside these larger meetings, special interest groups enable members to establish more focused networks and events. TFPL will continue to host these groups.

Connecting our knowledge to make a difference

Tuesday, 22 June 2010 (18.15-19.45)
The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blackfriars, London EC4

This event was followed by drinks and networking until 9.30pm.

Speaker: Paul Marriot, CEO, Depaul UK
Chair: Ian Wooler, TFPL Associate

This event offered you an opportunity to share your knowledge and information management (KIM) skills and experience to make a difference to homeless young people. The evening focused on a leading charity for homeless young people called Depaul UK. Paul Marriot, CEO gave an insight into the work the charity does, but more importantly, Paul highlighted their current challenges around knowledge and information management.

In common with other Registered Charities, Depaul UK is heavily reliant on volunteers, has limited finances, and needs to ensure that these resources are focused on the 'front line'. Inevitably, not enough time is spent addressing KIM challenges - and this is where you came in. We asked for your support during the evening to draw on your KIM skills, knowledge and experience to help pull together some ideas and initiatives that could help Depaul UK make a start on identifying, prioritising and meeting some of their KIM challenges.

Following the opening presentation, Ian Wooler, TFPL Associate facilitated an interactive cafe style discussion, giving you the opportunity to learn how others might address Depaul UK's KIM challenges, and enabling you to share your ideas and approaches with your peers. TFPL collated the outcomes from the conversations and provided these to Depaul UK as a record of the event.
