Chief Knowledge Officer
All sectors | £80 ++ p.a.

Purpose/Objectives:
To lead in the development of corporate culture, processes, infrastructure and information resources to facilitate the creation and utilisation of corporate knowledge, expertise and information to create competitive advantage and support creativity.

Responsibilities:
To develop the knowledge management concept within the corporate setting with a team of senior managers including the Head of Computing, Head of Human Resources and Head of Business Development.

To identify and prioritise changes that need to be made in order to leverage the company’s information and knowledge.

To bring about the implementation of processes, infrastructure and organisational procedures to enable the building and effective utilisation of a corporate knowledge base. This will include ensuring that:
  • information needs are understood and acknowledged.
  • information resources and intellectual assets are identified and managed on an integrated basis.
  • processes exist to facilitate the acquisition and sharing of information and knowledge.
  • appropriate structures for the development of staff are available.
  • the utilisation of information and communication technology supports KM objectives.
  • that all staff participate in the building, utilisation and protection of the knowledge base.
To oversee the:
  • co-ordination and management of the content on the corporate intranet.
  • the management and development of the corporate library and information centre.
  • the management and development of the records centre.
  • To identify and integrate any other support services relevant to the support of the knowledge management system.
Education:
At least degree level with an appropriate post degree qualification in a professional discipline. A business related degree such as an MBA is desirable but not essential.

Experience:
The successful CKO is likely to be a senior, highly regarded manager, (Partner, Director, General Manager level) who has demonstrated a capacity for managing change programmes or for managing sensitive projects. Sound experience of the business sector or related industry is essential.Previous experience of leading the development of a knowledge or information culture in other organisations.

Professional Services | between £40 - 65k p.a.

Purpose/Objectives:
To develop the understanding of knowledge assets and needs in all divisions.To manage and promote the effective supply and use of knowledge.

Responsibilities:
  • Assembling a team to be representative of all divisions of the department.
  • Identifying local Knowledge needs and prioritise in terms of value to the business.
  • Promoting the effective use of Knowledge sharing tools for all partners and staff.
  • Maintaining and enhancing effectiveness of company's databases including Lotus Notes.
  • Organising and running workshops.
  • Promoting and encouraging behaviour within the department in line with agreed Knowledge Management principles.
Education:
Postgraduate qualification in Librarianship, Information Sciences or a related discipline. Business related qualification desirable (or appropriate professional experience).

  • Maintaining a collection of internal research.
  • Assisting in the population of the company's existing information databases.
  • End-user training in the use of desktop information resources such as Lotus Notes.

Education:
