The next TFPL Health SIG meeting will be held in Leeds on 21 February 2012, kindly being hosted by the Department of Health Informatics Directorate (DHID). Following on from the very successful and topical meeting held in November in London, we will be continuing along the theme of the knowledge and information requirements of GPs from a commissioning, clinical and non-clinical perspective. We will be glad to hear from knowledge and information professionals in the North of England to describe what tools and services they are providing around the commissioning requirements.
Following on from the presentations there will be an opportunity for participants to discuss how all these initiatives might be brought together to increase the benefit to GPs and others concerned with commissioning.
Following the main session there will be an opportunity to network over drinks. Numbers are limited, so if you are interested in attending please contact Vivienne Winterman as soon as possible to reserve your place vivienne.winterman@tfpl.com or ring +44 (0)20 7332 6088.
We held a very interesting meeting on the knowledge and information needs of GPs from commissioning and clinical requirements, chaired by Sue Lacey-Bryant (Associate Director of GP Consortia Development/Chief Knowledge Officer, Milton Keynes PCT ), attended by 35 delegates coming from a mix of information suppliers (including charities), IT providers and NHS library and information professionals. The presentations and discussion outputs are given below . Please see the TFPL blog for a brief meeting report.
Dr Anita Jolly gave an overview of what knowledge and information commissioning GPs need.
Anne Gray described the information services developed in Milton Keynes and their commissioning handbook.
Sarah Panzetta talked about the Camden GP site.
The meeting focused on the provision of social care information from SCIE and NHS Evidence and how the two organisations planned to develop information resources for social workers working for Local Authorities the NHS (where there focus was on social care), the voluntary and charitable sectors. The report and presentations can be downloaded below.
Due to the very successful and informative meeting held in Leeds (12 October 2010), to look at how DH Informatics are taking KM tools and techniques out into the NHS to improve sharing of knowledge, experience and lessons learned, we decided to re-run the meeting in London for those in the south of the country to participate and hear the success stories. The format of this meeting was similar to the previous one, with the discussions building on the outcomes from the Leeds meeting, and chaired by Sue Lacey-Bryant, Associate Director of GP Consortia Development, NHS Milton Keynes. A report of the meeting can be downloaded below.
The meeting held in Leeds on 12 October 2010 was welcomed as an opportunity for those based in the region and nearby to participate in a Health SIG meeting.
