TFPL Connect is our learning network for knowledge and information professionals. TFPL Special Interest Groups run alongside the main TFPL Connect events programme and offer members interested in a particular topic or sector an opportunity to discuss matters of interest and network with colleagues.
We currently have two special interest groups running on the topics of SharePoint and Health, if you are interested in finding out more about these groups please contact events@tfpl.com.
TFPL launched the Health Special Interest Group in Autumn 2009. The group brings together knowledge and information management (KIM) professionals from a diverse range of public and private health related organisations to explore how they can work together, share experiences and ensure that KIM adds value to the delivery of Health and Social Care services.
The first meeting held on 4 November was hosted by the BMA and chaired by Jacky Berry, Librarian of the BMA. This initial meeting was based around presentations from speakers Helen Nellis, Principal at Perret Laver; Bob Gann, Strategy Commissioner for NHS Choices, DH; and Kate Arnold, Director of Patient Information at Cancer Research UK. Each demonstrated that whatever their back grounds and organisations they saw clear themes and challenges that cut across the whole health sector. The presentations were followed by a lively discussion and a chance to network over drinks and nibbles. It was a stimulating evening and for full details please read the review on the TFPL blog.
TFPL ran three very successful one day SharePoint Summits in 2008. These
mini-conferences, which sold out quickly, generated a great deal of interest
which has translated into a community on LinkedIn
- the TFPL SharePoint Interest Group.
The Group brings together individuals ranging from beginners to experts who have an interest in Sharepoint. Our aim is to create a resource where members are able to seek information and advice and also to give them a place to share their knowledge and experience. If you are a SharePoint user or are considering implementation you can join the group here.
