Julian Birkinshaw
Professor and Deputy Dean (Programmes), London Business School, Co-Founder of the Management Innovation Lab
Julian Birkinshaw is a Full Professor in the Department of Strategic and International Management at the London Business School, and Deputy Dean of Programmes. He is Co-Founder and Research Director of the Management Lab (MLab).

Professor Birkinshaw's main area of expertise is in the strategy and management of large multinational corporations, and on such specific issues as corporate entrepreneurship, innovation, subsidiary-headquarters relationship, knowledge management, network organisations, and global customer management. He is the author of ten books, including ‘Giant Steps in Management’ (2007), ‘Inventuring: Why Big Companies Must Think Small’ (2003), ‘Leadership the Sven-Goran Eriksson Way’ (2002), and ‘Entrepreneurship in the Global Firm’ (2001), and over fifty articles in such journals as Harvard Business Review and Sloan Management Review.
He is active as a consultant and executive educator to many large companies and is regularly quoted in international media outlets, including CNN, BBC, The Economist, the Wall Street Journal, and The Times. He speaks regularly at business conferences in the UK, Europe, North America and Australia.

Peter Chivers
Senior Associate, TFPL
Peter Chivers is a Senior Associate Advisor and joined TFPL after a successful career as a director at one of the global big-4 accounting firms. Peter is a chartered accountant and has a proven track record of early identification of emerging issues and implementation of strategic initiatives.
|
With a broad commercial background, he has over 30 years experience in professional services including more than 10 years responsibility for leading teams and delivering change in a global context, obtaining increased profitability.
Prior to joining TFPL, Peter was for 8 years Chief Knowledge Officer for KPMG UK with significant additional responsibilities for the development of knowledge management policy and adoption globally.
Peter's recent client experience includes 17 months at the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman where he was Director of Strategy (Board Member) overseeing the development and implementation of the overall strategy, but with particular focus on Knowledge Management.
Peter's other recent client experience includes the development and delivery of knowledge management strategies for clients in both the public and private sectors and assisting organisations to use knowledge to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Peter is a leader in his field and has been a keynote speaker at many conferences.

Di Martin

Chief Information Officer and Dean of Learning and Information Services, University of Hertfordshire
Professor Di Martin is Chief Information Officer and Dean of Learning and Information Services at the University of Hertfordshire.
As Chief Information Officer she has responsibility for the senior management and strategic development of the University's information management and ICT policies, strategy and developments.

As Dean she leads the strategic development and delivery of the University's pioneering integrated 24/7 learning resources facilities and services. These enjoy an international reputation and include StudyNet, a highly successful intranet and on-line learning environment, and three modern Learning Resources Centres.

Ewan McIntosh
National Adviser on Learning and Technology Futures, Learning & Teaching Scotland
Ewan McIntosh helps people understand how emerging technologies such as social media, mobile ubiquitous computers and gaming can help them learn better, work better and live better.
He is the National Adviser on Learning and Technology Futures for Learning and Teaching Scotland, the education agency responsible for curriculum development, and a member of the Channel 4 Media Advisory Board.

Ewan also consults for organisations including the BBC, British Council, the RSA, RM and Scottish Enterprise, advising on how social media can be harnessed for to improve learning in the organisation, in leadership and in communications.

Bill Parsons
Executive Vice President, Human Resources, ARM Holdings
Bill Parsons is currently the Executive Vice President of Human Resources at ARM Holdings plc. at which he is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources. Prior to this, he has held HR Directorships at Saga Group Ltd., Hussmann (Europe) Ltd., and Murex Biotech Ltd. In each case he has developed leading edge people management policies that have had a considerable positive impact business success as well as on employee retention, development and motivation.

He has previously worked in management consultancy and HR at Lucas Industries, a research scientist in the Nuclear industry and a design engineer of storage systems. As well as his role at ARM, Bill is a Director of The Cambridge Network and a Founder of The Learning Collaboration (TLC). TLC brings together the companies in the Cambridge area to share learning and development as well as sharing good practice. He has a degree in Materials Science and, an MBA with distinction from Warwick Business School.

Paul Saffo
Institute of the Future and Consulting Associate Professor, Stanford University
Paul is a forecaster and strategist with over two decades experience exploring long-term technological change and its practical impact on business and society. He draws on multidisciplinary historical developments to remind audiences that the future rarely arrives in expected ways, and offers pragmatic guidance for anticipating wild cards. Paul is currently a Consulting Associate Professor at Stanford University, and is on a research sabbatical from Institute for the Future, where he has worked since 1985.

He was the founding Chairman of the Samsung Science Board, and serves on a variety of other boards including the Long Now Foundation, the Singapore National Research Foundation Science Advisory Board and is an Advisor to Red Planet Capital, and 3i Venture Capital. Paul also has served as an advisor and Forum Fellow to the World Economic Forum, and is a Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. His essays have appeared in numerous publications, including The Harvard Business Review, Fortune, Wired, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, The New York Times and the Washington Post and is a columnist for ABC News Online.

Tony Sheehan
Learning Services Director, Ashridge Business School
Formerly Chief Knowledge Officer, Arup
Tony is responsible for the strategy, coordination and delivery of a range of learning solutions to the business school, participants on its programmes and to direct clients. This involves design and maintenance of an award winning online learning resource, as well as a range of activities that link people to relevant learning materials, including psychometrics, simulations and other forms of experiential learning.

Ian Wooler
Senior Associate, TFPL
Ian is an experienced professional in knowledge management, business improvement, change management and facilitation, performed across a wide range of start-up, public and private business environments. He has a track record, and interest, in accelerating the transfer and re-use of know-how across teams to deliver a step-change in productivity and effectively managing people, process and technology costs.

Recent assignments have included: - The development and facilitation of a series of knowledge sharing workshops for a global organisation
- Development of a balanced scorecard and KPIs for the information service of a major financial institution
- The development and implementation of a CRM strategy for a Government Agency
- Provision of an on-line moderation service for an intranet benchmarking forum
- Team development advice for a telematics start-up company
Before joining TFPL as a Senior Advisor, Ian was Chief Knowledge Officer and member of the Executive Team of 186k, a telecom start-up business, and was responsible to the CEO for instilling the organisation’s knowledge management discipline whereby 186k employees routinely create, capture and lever collective knowledge.
Prior to joining 186k, Ian was the Knowledge Development Manager at BG plc where he was responsible for the International Information Centre and the development and implementation of knowledge management across the Group. Ian has also held a number of senior management roles in Business Improvement and Marketing in BG plc and British Gas.
Ian is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and an Associate Member of the Institute of Management Consultancy.
