Understanding electronic records management systems: SharePoint, EDRMS and ECM
Price: £350 plus VAT Level: 2
introduction:
We are witnessing a huge degree of change in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) space. MoReq 2 has set up its testing regime but only one vendor has so far been certified as MoReq compliant. SharePoint 2007 has grabbed a massive slice of the ECM market despite having weak records management features. This year will see a flurry of activity as SharePoint 2010 launches with improved records management capabilities (but still not based on MoReq or similar standards).
Most of the ECM vendors are now trying to integrate into SharePoint rather than compete with it, and it may transpire that SharePoint faces its stiffest competition from Google Apps (which does not at present have any records management functionality).
In amongst all this change, organisations have choices to make on what collaborative environments they provide their staff, and how they capture records from those environments.
This course looks at the key issues involved in choosing and utilising the technologies available for records management systems. It reviews the pros and cons and looks at the implications of utilising the different technologies for records managers today.
