A prestigious publishing house has a permanent job opportunity for an Archive Manager, to be based in their Northamptonshire office. 

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen to join the Archive team. They are committed to being forward thinking in their preservation of historical documents and future research enquiries. You will have experience in Curatorial or Collection Management or Library or Information Management with a good track record of supervisory management experience.

The main areas requiring support include overseeing the process of gaining and maintaining materials. You will manage a small team in preserving the heritage of the company ensuring the Archive fully supports the functions of the company and external stakeholders.

As Archive Manager your job role will include:

  • Managing a small team
  • Having a forward thinking, innovative, can-do approach
  • Undertaking and providing an excellent research enquiry service
  • Maintains an interest in current developments, informing best practice  
  • Developing and contributing to the strategic planning for the Archive
  • Helping to create and maintain systems especially when new features are added.
  • Overseeing the departmental budget and liaising and negotiating with suppliers
  • Helping to shape the future of the Archive and promoting activities of the department.
  • Having a solid understanding of copyright and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of running an archive and strong management experience. You will also have a solid understanding of copyright and compliance in archives and libraries. You will ideally hold a post-graduate qualification in Archives & Records Management.

You will possess the ability to develop a good understanding of the work of the Archive and to appreciate internal clients' information needs.

This is a great job opportunity for an experienced Curatorial, Collection, Archives/Records Management or Information professional who has both strong communication skills and an interest and technical aptitude with systems to further develop your career in the Archive Management sector.
