5 months - Temporary Archives and Records Assistant

The position will be based full time at the central London offices of a highly reputable organisation.
Key job responsibilities will include:
- Labelling shelf locations to prepare new storage areas
- Re-packaging and re-labelling material where necessary and numbering boxes for transportation
- Updating the CALM database with locations and collections data
- Surveying unlisted material
- Handling collection items in diverse formats and varying conditions
To be successful, you will need a qualification in Archives/Heritage studies and experience of working with archives or special collections material, proficiency in MS office and database software and experience of managing and updating data.
An awareness of potential risks to the safety and security of the collections as they are being moved will also be required.
You will need the ability to work to guidelines, sometimes unsupervised, as a member of the team and prioritise your duties in order to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with CALM would also be beneficial.
It is essential that you have strong communication skills to work in a small team and that you are highly practical and can think on your feet.
