About the company

Our client regulates registered charities in England and Wales and maintains the Central Register of Charities. They are seeking a knowledgeable candidate who will report directly to the Head of Information Rights and Complaints


What you'll be doing

What you'll be doing

You will be handling requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018 by providing high quality responses to requests within the statutory deadline

Main duties and responsibilities:

Freedom of Information and data subject rights requests
- Manage/respond to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and data subject rights requests, either at initial request or internal review (Decision Review) stage
- Provide expert advice/case mentoring to other members of the RIGA team or wider Commission staff to support them in preparing responses to FOI requests
- Contribute to initiatives to develop and improve the FOI process, and train staff, in responding to requests for information, building organisational capacity and supporting continuous organisational development
- Assist in monitoring of the Commission's performance in responding to requests for information
- Other duties which contribute to the wider work of the RIGA team

- Undertake such other duties, training, travel and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job

Why you’ll be hired

Our client is looking for a knowledgeable and capable professional who can ably manage their workload dealing with sensitive information and data. You will understand the practical impacts on records management and legal exemptions.

- Previous experience in responding to FOI and requests from data subjects, including subject access requests (SARs)
- Ability to craft resource-effective responses to requests for information under FOI and GDPR/DPA which comply with legal/ICO requirements
- Ability to apply judgements about risk and proportionality to all casework
- Ability to collaborate and to influence others to achieve quality outcomes within their work
- Excellent customer management skills
- Ability to work flexibly and autonomously - problem solving, taking decisions and managing deadlines with the minimum of supervision
- Standard Office IT software applications
