Knowledge Management Systems Manager - London or Manchester

A leading law firm has a new permanent job opportunity for a Knowledge Management Systems Manager, which can be based in either London or Manchester.

Sitting within the firm’s global Central Knowledge Management team, you will help to deliver some of the Firm's knowledge management solutions globally by collecting, organising and analysing legal data, and by providing technical and analytical support across all KM projects and services.

This is a busy role for someone seeking a challenge and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. It would suit someone from either a paralegal, information services, or business analyst background, who is keen to develop a career in the business of law.

Key Job Requirements will include:

  • Knowledge Search Support: a new global knowledge database is currently being rolled out and you will assist in this roll-out and adoption project and help to deliver training.
     
  • Intranet Support: you will help to deal with internal content queries during periods of high demand. Additionally, you will help to design and maintain the KM area of the firm’s intranet site. You will also help the KM team understand user behaviour and popular content.
     
  • Knowledge Marketing Support: Working with the firm’s marketing teams, you will use analytics software to help determine trends in, and evaluate the effectiveness of, knowledge-based legal marketing undertaken by lawyers through the writing of blogs, website articles, client alerts etc.  You will also help answer enquiries from prospective or current clients of the firm about KM for the purposes of winning new business.
     
  • KM Contribution Support: you will be responsible for collecting and analysing financial/time data.
     
  • Regulatory/Compliance support: As and when required, you will help to provide support to, the firm’s Office of General Counsel for compliance with regulatory standards/policies.
     
  • Experience Management Support: Support the Central KM team and Practice Groups globally to locate and index matter experience data in the firm’s experience database. You will proactively work with the business  to identify content for Deal tracking league tables.
     

This is a great permanent job opportunity for someone with a strong systems background who understands Knowledge Management goals required. 

You must be familiar with Knowledge Management Systems and must be able to work with a database and understand taxonomy.

You must come from a professional services Knowledge systems background, ideally from the legal sector.  

The position requires a strong comunicator.

 

Key Job Requirements will include:

  • Good understanding of information systems and classification principles
  • Experience working in the legal sector or in a Knowledge/Information management role desirable
  • A law degree, legal apprenticeship, or KM qualification would be an advantage, but is not essential
  • Excellent communicator, able to work with people of varying levels of seniority and technical experience
  • Well organised with good administration and project management skills
  • Aptitude and interest in technology, and a quick learner
