A higher education library in London is looking to hire a Library Assistant to work shift hours which are to be confirmed.

As the Library Assistant your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing customer service to staff, students and visitors
  • Dealing with enquiries both via the phone and face to face
  • Assisting the locating of resources via catalogue searches
  • Trian and encourage users to use the self-service systems
  • To undertake access management duties including operating library access schemes and supporting access control systems
  • Assist with inductions and training talks and tours
  • Assist with projects when required
  • General admin duties

To be considered for this opportunity you will have:

  • Previous library experience would be beneficial  
  • Educated to GCSE level
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer orientated with the ability to relate to people
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle difficult situations in a calm manner
  • Strong IT skills across Microsoft Office
  • Flexible and cooperative work ethic
  • Ability to work unsupervised and exercise initiative
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload

This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to continue their learning and personal development within a higher educational environment. The salary on offer is between £21,271 - £28,139 DOE. This is shift work however the shift pattern hours are yet to be confirmed.
