An esteemed medical membership body currently has an opportunity for someone who would be interested in focusing on the processing of Subject Access Requests. It may be that the role will suit someone who has Freedom of Information request experience. The processes are relatively similar as it’s about finding information within an organisation in response to an external request, compiling it and then responding to the requestor. FOIs concern the public sector, SARs are for non-public bodies and are concerned with information personal to the requestor. There is also the element of Records Management experience so finding someone who could do both would be ideal.

What you'll be doing

This role will support staff in their work by ensuring easy access to the knowledge and information they need, and appropriate training in its management and use.

We are looking to appoint a Records Management Assistant with specific responsibility for co-ordinating and compiling the responses to Subject Access Requests (SARs) to join our Records Management team.

You will be undertaking a range of activities within the Records Management team: Working closely with the Records Manager, the successful candidate will also be assisting in a range of activities:

Primarily responding to and processing Subject Access Requests (SARs)
Responding to records management queries and requests, covering the areas of mail management, case management files, file closures and management of onsite and offsite storage

Why you’ll be hired

The successful candidate should have previous experience of working with Subject Access Requests or Freedom of Information requests, along with experience of information or records management and using electronic information systems such as a corporate intranet or SharePoint. Attention to detail, particularly with applying redaction to documents, data entry expertise and an awareness of the legislative and regulatory frameworks for information and records governance are all important requirements.
